NoviaMatic automatically wraps products of varying size using pre-cut sheets of self-seal corrugated board in a 'pillow' type pack with a longitudinal central seam and fin end seals, giving the benefit of a world-wide accepted and well established pack presentation as well as a drastic reduction in wrapper consumption compared with roll-fed systems.
NoviaMatic requires minimal maintenance, e.g. no expensive knives to replace, and there is no roll-change downtime, as the sheet magazine can be continually re-plenished without stopping. Speeds of 30 packs per minute can be achieved with one operator. Another key advantage of NoviaMatic is its modular design, whereby optional extras may be added to meet individual customers requirements, e.g. Coding on wrapper, labelling, special infeed or discharge units.
Operation
The self-seal corrugated board sheets are held in a purpose-built easy-mount magazine. Individual sheets are dispensed from the magazine by means of a suction unit and placed on an indexing conveyor, which steps the board through the other elements of the wrapping process.
The products to be wrapped are placed manually or by means of an optional mechanised feeding system onto the pre-fed board wrapper. Once the product has been placed on the sheet, the pack is closed in the following stages...
Both sides are folded around guides to form a 'U' shape;
Both sides are then formed around a central bar to create the longitudinal seam;
The seam is then folded over and pressed down;
The final end fins are formed as the pack is discharged at right angles to the main indexing conveyor.
